x.The Midland Murals Collection P5

In the Fall of 2016, we had the pleasure of visiting our daughter and her family in Port Severn, ON.  We spent a good deal of time in the nearby community of Midland, where we  stumbled upon the Midland Murals while exploring their quaint downtown and lakefront areas.  Over two afternoons I searched out and photographed 18 of the 30-plus murals that there are to find, and put them together in the following slideshow. I hope you enjoy scrolling through it as much as I enjoyed the experience of gathering the images…

About the Midland Murals

The majority of Midland’s beautiful historical murals were painted by the late Artist, Fred Lenz, over a period of many years.  Each mural represents a significant time in the history of the Georgian Bay area, with many representing Midland’s pioneers.  I was captivated by Mr. Lenz’s ability with three dimensional representation and his use of the structure of the buildings as part of the structure of the paintings – it was often difficult to separate the two.

This short virtual Video Tour of the Midland Murals will give you a few interesting details about the individual murals and where they are located.  However, it’s way more fun to strike out on your own and discover them…!
